The show unveils yet spectacular designs made from Nigerian Fabrics and African designs

This season also come with a Team that is so timely at this time  especially  in the Nigerian context “Embrace Africa”.

It’s  time we look inwards to appreciate and embrace Africa. The message is simple, “Think Nigeria, Buy Africa“.

We had this interview so you can hear from the organizers about the event and from what we gathered it’s going to be the Next Big Fashion Show, Africa get ready.

NT -The Name Selasi is very catchy, can  you tell us about Selasi Fashion Show and the Inspiration behind it?

SFS – Thank you. Selasi Fashion Show [SFS] is about recognizing and appreciating talents in the African Fashion Industry, encouraging designers to think outside the box and try on new things using our local fabrics.  After running a fashion house for over thirteen years and attending several fashion shows, I realized that in some of the cases, the aim behind the shows was a bit superficial. Besides the money, we need designers and shows that are first about the passion for the work and love for African prints and designs. This mindset gave birth to Selasi Fashion Show – A platform where designers can unleash their talents and inspire people to take fashion to the next level using our local fabrics.
NT– How was Season 1 & 2?

SFS  –  Season 1 being our first, was memorable and challenging at the same time. We show-cased five participants, it was successful but we expected more.

The season two was awesome! The turnout was amazing and going forward, we are hopeful and putting all hands on deck to have the best so far during this Season 3.

NT -What is the Theme for Season 3, and why the Theme?

SFS – Africa is blessed in different areas and this includes our fashion and style. This single truth is what drives our passion and our yearly themes.

This year’s theme is ‘Embrace Africa’ – We are using our platform to encourage Africans to look within and create trendy styles from our local fabrics. As you well know, we have a lot of fabric types; Ankara, Adire, Tie & Die, Sheda etc. We see it taking center stage at events, parties and offices on Fridays but more can be done in the use of our materials. We can use more of them in our offices, on the red carpet of local and international events and every where else.

NT – As a platform to promote Nigeria and African designs, are we expecting African designer(s) from other Countries?

Yes, the show is open to all African designers; we are expecting designers from all over Africa particularly Ghana and Mali.

NT – Can you tell us what other side attractions we should be expecting during the show?.

SFS – The season 3 is a three in one package, runway, dance and comedy.

NT – What Will make Season 3 stand out from Season 1 and 2?

SFS–  Season 1 & 2 were amazing but Season 3 will be the best so far as we would be having designers from outside of Nigeria.

NT -Where do you See Selasi Fashion Show in the Next 5 years?

SFS – In the next five years, we believe we would be a show to be reckoned with internationally. We should also be receiving awards both locally and internationally.

NT – A program of this magnitude sure can come with some challenges, what are they and how have you been able to stay on top of the challenges?

SFS – You are right. We guess the saying “Nothing good comes easy” is true in a lot of ways. Some of the challenges include getting the perfect venue, to getting sponsorship & partnerships, getting the right vendors to work with and so much more.

Through it all, God has been faithful and we have always overcome.

NT – For fashion designers and models  who will love to participate in the Fashion show, what do they need to do to be a part of the show?

SFS – They will need to visit our website to download the form, fill it and send to our email or

NT – What will you like to say to the world, to your sponsors partners and supporters?

SFS – We thank you for believing in us thus far, we are an investment you wouldn’t regret.
